Katrina
This is the one hurricane that caused so much damage to New Orleans and a good portion of the Gulf Coast. What made it worse is that some people claim that this calamity was made by man. As it crossed the Gulf of Mexico, it became Category 5 in strength. Residents were ordered to evacuate the city starting August 28, 2005. Katrina broke levees which caused the city to flood killing 1,800 in the process.
