During the early 1950s, the NBA was still growing and players still dribbled with one hand. The league was dominated by the George Mikan-led Minneapolis Lakers. In 1953, the Philadelphia Warriors had a full season 12-57 (0.174) record. It would be a while before the Warriors would have their hands on a future Hall of Famer named Wilt Chamberlain.
