Gainesville Tornado in 1936
This pair of storm converting in Gainesville, Georgia killed 203 people and injured 1,600 more, although figures could be a lot higher. This small northern Georgia town was hit by a massive pair of storms that left 750 homes destroyed. It took years before they have fully recovered. Georgia has since witnessed many other tornadoes, albeit less powerful.
