7 Worst Earthquakes We’ve Seen Throughout History

Haiti, January 12, 2010

This one might be something that you have heard of as it is one of the most recent quakes. Haiti has witnessed several earthquakes through the years, but this one was the worst. There were over 223,000 people who died. 1.3 million people lost their homes. In other quakes, tsunami was the one that triggered a higher death toll. In Haiti, only 4 people died due to tidal waves. Most of those who died were trapped in collapsing buildings. Experts believe that the death rate could have been lower if only buildings were made of strong foundation and the government invested more for the welfare of the people.
