Cyclone Nargis, Myanmar 2008

Myanmar is used to cyclones hitting the country as there are a lot of them each year. In 2008 though, cyclone Nargis made a landfall in Myanmar that devastated the entire Ayeyarwady Delta region. 37 towns were affected and an estimated 84,500 people were killed plus 54,000 more who went missing. The cyclone was equivalent to category 4 of a hurricane, which was strong enough to cause surges and heavy flooding.
